Important Documents Checklist for Every Household
A simple checklist of the documents worth tracking deliberately — organized the way you'd actually look for them.
Identity
Passport, PAN card, Aadhaar card, driving licence, voter ID. These are requested most often and on the shortest notice, so they benefit the most from a precise, quickly-recalled location.
Property and finance
Sale deeds, property tax receipts, bank passbooks, cheque books, fixed deposit receipts, loan documents. These tend to be the bulkiest files in the house and benefit from being grouped physically, not just categorically.
Insurance and medical
Health, life, vehicle, and home insurance policies; vaccination records; major medical reports. Renewal dates matter here as much as location — track both.
Education, tax, and vehicle
Degree certificates and mark sheets, income tax returns and Form 16s by year, vehicle registration and PUC certificates. None of these are needed often, which is exactly why a location record — rather than memory — matters most for this group.
